Deployment of Innovation
ZCS system for Sao Joao consisted in automation and self pick-up of uniforms and workwear for medical staff, and integrate tracking of laundry (uniforms, scrub, gown, clog and linens) in these areas:
1) Distribution, Tracking and Self-pickup of scrubs and clogs
2) RFID-fencing of restricted areas and Flux control
3) RFID Tracking of all laundry item, throughout the washing and using supply chain

This part of the project consisted in provide Sao Joao all the software infrastructure and hardware machines to fully automated the delivery of the Scrubs and Clog to the employee.
The criteria of pickup authorization are established by the management of the hospital, for example which colour of scrub, a maximum quota at any time (quota is erased when scrub trough into soiled cabinet) and many more setting.
All the self-pickup are monitored by inventory RFID tracking system, so this provide the hospital large data on single user (for example, what time the scrub are picked up etc..), on the items (for example how many washing cycles each items performed etc...) and statistical data (for example, how many picking per each machine etc..)
Each item is tagged with RFID chip, including Scrubs, Uniforms, Bed Linen, dress for patience and even foot clog.
RFID-fencing of restricted areas and Flux control
This part of the project allows the hospital to control the flux of the items (linens, scrubs, clogs etc...) trough the hospital wards and areas, allowing the managers to understand the level of inventory and the actual flux of materials and employees to make optimization.
The system can restrict some area to certain items: when the item pass trough a gate, a light and sound allarm are played, this to prevent contamination or avoid shortcuts.
With the data of the flux, is also possible to identify the number of linen used for each wards and other useful statistics.
A feature of the system is the ability to discern between different category of items, here an example:
In Sao Joao hospital, medical staff are allowed to use their standard scrubs to access the canteen, but they must change their clog. A smartbox is installed at the entrace of the canteen: when any clog is identified by the reader, the system report to manager the employee name whose clog is paired to. On the other end, nothing happen when read uniforms.
Laundry Tracking of Linens
Tracking of the linens ENTRY / EXIT the Hospital Storage from and to the outsourced laundry.
In this way the hospital can control the level of inventory at any time, plan ahead and control the laundry performance
Hardware deployed:
-1 batch reading cabinet model “G30” with RFID real time inventory tracking for trolley
-1 batch reading cabinet model “G32” with RFID real time inventory tracking for trolley
-2 manual counter for linen despatch to wards, at bundle level, with desk RFID antenna, with PC for TRAK software access
Software:
-Stargate data gateway (web service)
-TRAK front-end asset management system (web service)
Laundry Tracking of Linens

In this way the hospital can control the level of stock in each.

•6 smart gate model «G07», installed in the wards and departmnet gates smart gate with RFID inventory tracking
•Smart handheld readers in some wards with warehouse stock
